🧬 Mechanics That Stick
Wizards of the Coast is pulling no punches with this one. The set introduces some fresh mechanics that feel tailor-made for Spidey’s world:
Web-Slinging: This new mechanic lets you cast spells for an alternate cost by returning a tapped creature you control to your hand. It’s a slick nod to Spider-Man’s agility and his knack for swinging in and out of danger. Think Ninjutsu meets bounce spells, perfect for triggering enter-the-battlefield effects and keeping your opponents guessing.
Mayhem: For the villainous crowd, Mayhem allows you to cast spells from your graveyard if you discarded them that turn. It’s a spiritual cousin to Madness, but cleaner and more thematic. Electro, Green Goblin, and other chaos agents are going to love this one.
Modified & Connive: Returning mechanics like Modified (from Kamigawa) and Connive (from New Capenna) also make an appearance. They add depth and synergy, especially with characters who evolve or manipulate their surroundings—looking at you, Mister Negative.
🌌 Cards I’m Hyped For In Marvel’s Spider-Man
Let’s talk cardboard dreams. I’m counting down the days to get my hands on:
Cosmic Spider-Man – Multiversal power wrapped in a webbed suit? Yes please.
Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer – A sleek twist on the symbiote saga, and a potential powerhouse in Limited.
Mister Negative – Hoping for some wild reverse synergy and card manipulation.

😢 What’s Missing from Marvel’s Spider-Man
Now, I wouldn’t be a true geek if I didn’t air a few grievances. Where’s the Murder card featuring Uncle Ben? I mean, come on—“With great power…” practically begs for a tragic flavor text moment. And how did we not get a Run Away Together card with Green Goblin and Gwen Stacy? That combo would’ve been heartbreaking and brilliant.
