Welcome back to our Star Wars: Unlimited learning series! In Part 1, we covered the different types of cards and the counters used during gameplay. If you missed it, check it out here. Today, we’re diving into the visual language of the game—those little symbols and icons that help you understand how cards work and how rare they are.
As I’ve been playing more and more, I’ve come to appreciate how intuitive the design is once you know what to look for. Let’s break it down.
💰 Resource Cost Symbols: Matching Leaders, Bases, and Deck Cards
Every card in your deck has a resource cost—the amount of resources you need to spend to play it. These costs are shown as colored symbols in the top-left corner of each card. Here’s how they work:

Neutral Cost (Top Number): Can be paid with any resource.
Aspect Cost (Colored Symbols): These represent specific aspects like Aggression, Cunning, Heroism, etc. You must generate matching aspect resources to play these cards efficiently.

Your Leader and Base determine which aspects are included in your deck. Each has symbols printed on them that show which aspects they support. For example, if your Leader shows Aggression and Cunning, you can include cards with those aspects and play them by paying only their neutral cost.
However, if you try to play a card with an aspect that isn’t supported by your Leader or Base—or if the card requires more aspect symbols than you have—you’ll need to pay 2 additional neutral resources per unsupported symbol. This penalty keeps deckbuilding balanced and thematic, encouraging you to build around your chosen Leader and Base.
Choosing your Leader and Base isn’t just about flavor—it’s a strategic decision that shapes your entire deck’s identity and efficiency.
🌟 Star Icon: What Does It Mean?
Ever notice a small star icon next to a card’s name? That’s the mark of a unique card.
You can only have one copy of a unique card in play at a time.
These cards often represent named characters or legendary items—think Darth Vader, Millennium Falcon, or Yoda’s Lightsaber.
The star helps you quickly identify these powerful, one-of-a-kind cards during deckbuilding and gameplay.

🟨 Rarity Symbols: What’s at the Bottom of the Card?
At the bottom of each card, you’ll find a small symbol that indicates its rarity. This is especially useful when sorting cards, trading, or evaluating value. Here’s what each symbol means:
These symbols are small but mighty—they help collectors and players alike understand the value and scarcity of each card at a glance.
